From his „Board of Peace“ to his imperial ambitions in Greenland, Panama, Venezuela and Canada, the old, senile man in the White Office dreams about a greater American Reich.
Unfortunately, he has surrounded himself with sycophants and other fascists who have similar dreams held together by delusions of grandeur and fairy tales of the past.

If justice had been served, Donald J. Trump would have been put behind barred windows for his role as the main insurrectionist on January 6, 2021 when he and his followers tried to overthrow the democratically-elected President Joe Biden. We should never forget that Trump and his like-minded Republican representatives (like Ted Cruz) spread the lies about a „stolen election“ and claimed that a fraud was about to occure (way before the 2020 election results) to maintain their position of power. Nothing they claimed held up in court!
Unfortunately, justice wasn’t served. The convicted felon Trump gets to be president once again, waging war against international law and American citizens with his Gestapo-turned ICE. Now surrounded by sycophants like J.D. Vance and Karoline Leavitt, psychopaths like Stephen Miller and other enemies of democracy like Russell Vought.
The Royal Court – aka the „Board of Peace“
Initially, when the ‚Board of Peace‘ was approved by the UN with 13-0 (Russia and China abstained) through Resolution 2803, it was all about the war in Gaza – from the discussions to the text itself. This Trump-brokered ceasefire agreement was already a novelty for the UN, as the control was basically handed over to Trump which undermined the ‚longstanding UN principles of self-determination and national sovereignty and against colonialism‘ (The Guardian). According to The Guardian, it was also ‚vaguer than any other UN peacekeeping resolution in modern times‘. Yet, Europe and the Arab world were satisfied when at least lip service was paid to a potential future sovereign Palestinian state. At the time, it was thought that this resolution would keep Trump engaged in Gaza with the hope that it might lead to durable peace. Two months later, Gaza wasn’t mentioned a single time – instead, the charter of the ‚Board of Peace‘ was now meant to be a permanent entity to „promote peace and good governance“ around the world. Not without demeaning the UN indirectly and boasting about the boards own supposed competence on these matters.
I’ll show here both charters side by side in a table in a PDF-file (10 pages), that way it’s easier to recognize the differences (not everything included of the UN-charter, as it is much longer than the „Board of Peace“ charter):
Chapter 3 of this „Board of Peace“ really tells you everything what you need to know:
Only the chairman, which would be Trump, determines when a meeting is being held (Article 3.1, (c) ) next to the regular annual ones. In 3.2 (a), it is stated that Donald Trump is not only the Chairman of the „Board of Peace“ but also the representative of the United States of America. He also has the power to ‚create, modify, or dissolve subsidiary entities‘ if he feels like it (3.2. (b) ). The UN, for example, has a Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) to assist governing bodies relating to the Paris Climate Agreement and the Kyoto Protocol. The same goes for Subcommittees, it’s the chairman again who decides whether one should be created, in stark contrast to how it currently works: „The United Nations network also includes subsidiary organs created by the General Assembly and autonomous specialized agencies. The subsidiary organs report to the General Assembly or ECOSOC or both. Some of these organs are funded directly by the UN; others are financed by the voluntary contributions of governments or private citizens. In addition, ECOSOC has consultative relationships with NGOs operating in economic, social, cultural, educational, health, and related fields. NGOs have played an increasingly important role in the work of the UN’s specialized agencies, especially in the areas of health, peacekeeping, refugee issues, and human rights.“ (Encyclopedia Britannica)
You can find a list of the UN’s subsidiary organs here:
https://www.un.org/en/ga/about/subsidiary/committees.shtml
The power hunger just increases exponentially the more you read about it, so let’s move on to the Executive Board of Chapter 4 of this charter.
„(a) The Executive Board shall be selected by the
Chairman and consist of leaders of global stat-
ure.
(b) Members of the Executive Board shall serve
two-year terms, subject to removal by the
Chairman and renewable at his discretion.“
Once again, you are at the mercy of the wanna-be emperor Donald Trump.
The Chief Executive is, of course, nominated by Trump and then confirmed by majority approval. But since you can be easily replaced with a yea-sayer country, you might not want to vote against whoever is appointed by Trump. There’s not even an illusion of choice.
„(e) Decisions of the Executive Board shall be
made by a majority of its members present and
voting, including the Chief Executive. Such deci-
sions shall go into effect immediately, subject to
veto by the Chairman at any time thereafter.“
Not even your decisions mean anything, as they can be vetoed any time by the chairman.
Literally at any time afterwards! Imagine voting on an issue, preparing for its implementation over several weeks and months by calling different institutions, parties involved in the objective and getting close to its implementation and then *boom*, the chairman changed his mind for unknown reasons. Vetoed and whatever you worked for disappears into nothingness!
In case of internal disputes, you better have Trump on your side because „the Chairman is the final authority regarding the meaning, interpretation, and application of this Charter“ (Article 7). Oh, and remember: even the position of the chairman may very well be hereditary, in Article 3 it is the chairman who designates the successor. He or she, most likely a child of Donald Trump if this megalomaniacal vanity project is allowed to exist after his death, then assumes all duties and authorities associated with the chairman.
For comparison, the approach to solving internal disputes within the UN are significantly more extensive than the undercooked mess created by the Trump Administration.
Chapter VI of the UN charter deals with ‚Pacific Settlement of Disputes‚, Article 33 states:
„1. The parties to any dispute, the continuance of which is likely to endanger the maintenance of international peace and security, shall, first of all, seek a solution by negotiation, enquiry, mediation, conciliation, arbitration, judicial settlement, resort to regional agencies or arrangements, or other peaceful means of their own choice.
2. The Security Council shall, when it deems necessary, call upon the parties to settle their dispute by such means.“
The International Court of Justice may also come into play, if necessary:
„In making recommendations under this Article the Security Council should also take into consideration that legal disputes should as a general rule be referred by the parties to the International Court of Justice in accordance with the provisions of the Statute of the Court.“
(Article 36, Nr. 3)
You can, of course, also purchase a permanent seat on the ‚Board of Peace‘ for a low, low price of $1 billion – during a limited time period of course: „The three-year membership term shall not apply to Member States that contribute more than USD $1,000,000,000 in cash funds to the Board of Peace within the first year of the Charter’s entry into force.“ (Article 2.2, (c) ).
And there’s a good chance, considering the unprecedented corruption of the Trump-Administration and the endless greed of the Trump family, that not everything will flow into the treasury of this so-called „Board of Peace“.
| During the Cold War, the UN and its charter was already compromised enough thanks to the United States and the Soviet Union (in the form of Russia that controlled the union) who waged proxy wars in Latin America, on the African continent and the Far and Middle East (Afghanistan, Iran, Vietnam, Korea, Cambodia, etc.). Along with the stand-off in Europe where the Soviets brutally oppressed the citizens of Poland, Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Hungary and other satellite states (as well as the SED in East Germany). Hence, a regression back into this kind of world order – this time just with far-right authoritarian countries threatening their neighborhood – would result in even greater damage and suffering today (destabilization through hybrid warfare, economic pressure, normalizing the violation of international law even during times of peace, etc.). |
Actual Reforms
As Zelenskyy already talked about in a speech held in September 2023 at the UN, there’s a major flaw within the UN: the UN Security Council with its permanent members China, France, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States. Russia, who started its war of aggression against Ukraine on February 24, 2022, and continues to terrorize Ukrainian civilians to this day – deliberately targeting civil infrastructure from kindergartens to hospitals and energy, which are war crimes – still can veto decisions of the Security Council. Meanwhile, the other 10 members of the Security Council are elected to serve for two years. After the Second World War, this constellation may have made sense, but these times are long gone. Billions of people do not have a representation in the Securiy Council, as it was also pointed out by Zelenskyy. India, for instance, with its population of 1.4 billion people or Nigeria which has a population of more than 236 million people (world’s sixth-most popolous country). Perhaps, 1991 – when the Soviet Union was dissolved – should have also been a period of reforms at the UN. Anyway, as my knowledge is limited and the reforms need to encompass a wide range of subjects and the inclusion of millions of people, there’s nothing concrete I could propose. However, I do can recommend a blog (with articles written in English and German) which may be of inspiration:
the Verfassungsblog | On Matter Constitutional
https://verfassungsblog.de/
What this „Board of Peace“ sets out to do, however, is the exact opposite of the urgently needed reforms to democratize an important international organisation. One individual is given absolute control over an organization originally meant to be limited to Gaza.
At any given time, your country would be at the mercy of Trump or whoever Trump appoints his successor. Just like in royal courts during the age of absolutism, the most well-known example being King Louis XIV (1643-1715) who said: “L’état, c’est moi” (“I am the state”). And as flawed as the UN is, and as annoyed and even frustrated I’m sometimes with it, it’s currently the best thing we have – until reforms can finally be tackled.
It’s kind of ironic how far-right party leaders like Viktor Orban (Fidesz, Hungary) and Alice Weidel (AfD, Germany) have no issue sucking up to Trump by either joining the board (as Orban did) or intend to join it (as Weidel wants to, should the AfD ever form a coalition).
The very same people who made up the fairy tale about „evil Brussels“ where the EU Parliament is located and fearmongering about the total loss of sovereignty.
Now, that the far-right authoritarian Trump Administration actually aims to do exactly that they are all hyped up. It’s pathetic. But politicians on the far-right have no self-respect anyways, they’ll sell out their country more quickly than Usain Bolt can run a 100-metres race.
Members of the Board of Peace
Here’s the list of the poor souls or foolish individuals and their countries who signed up to this royal court (CNBC, January 22 2026):
- Bahrain
Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, minister of the prime minister’s court - Morocco
Nasser Bourita, minister of foreign affairs - Argentina
Javier Milei, president - Armenia
Nikol Pashinyan, prime minister - Azerbaijan
Ilham Aliyev, President - Bulgaria
Rosen Zhelyazkov, prime minister - Hungary
Viktor Orban, prime minister - Indonesia
Prabowo Subianto, president - Jordan
Ayman Al Safadi, minister of foreign affairs - Kazakhstan
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, president - Kosovo
Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, president - Pakistan
Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, prime minister - Paraguay
Santiago Peña, president - Qatar
Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, prime minister - Saudi Arabia
Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, minister of foreign affairs - Turkey
Hakan Fidan, minister of foreign affairs - United Arabic Emirates
Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, special envoy to the U.S. for the UAE - Uzbekistan
Shavkat Mirziyoyev, president - Mongolia
Gombojavyn Zandanshatar, prime minister
I suppose countries like Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and the UAE would have at least an excuse and might point to the original intend when it was discussed and voted on last year, or they just ignore and cherry-pick while paying lip-service to Trump – considering their authoritarian structures they’ll be all too familiar with how these things work. Palestinians naturally won’t have any choice and much say in the matter, if any.
Faux Internationality
I may need to hammer this one down, before it is forgotten under the flood of information:
the US-Administration left 66 global organizations: 31 UN-organizations and 35 Non-Un-Organizations. The following list, first published by the Associated Press on January 8, 2026, lists all of the organizations (I’ll highlight some):
Non-UN
- 24/7 Carbon-Free Energy Compact

While it is evident that some decisions were made on an ideological basis (as the Trump-Administration and MAGA-Movement oppose renewable energies, environmental protection and the rule of law and the democratic system in its entirety), others are juts baffling like the International Lead and Zinc Study Group or the Global Counterterrorism Forum. Below, we will realize even more quickly that this is about ending multilateralism with the common principles of „indivisibility of interests among participants, a commitment to diffuse reciprocity, and a system of dispute settlement intended to enforce a particular mode of behaviour“ (Encyclopedia Britannica), such as embodied in the World Trade Organization.

It’s not that surprising that the convicted felon Trump, on 34 felony accounts and main insurrectionist of the January 6 plot, pulled out of the International Law Commission.
He already made it clear when he imposed sanctions on ICC prosecutor Karim Khan and four ICC judges –„two of whom authorized the investigation into Afghanistan and two of whom approved the Netanyahu and Gallant arrest warrants“ (Verfassungsblog). Also in form of denying access to Microsoft software such as Outlook (the email program) which paralyzed the ICC. The Brazilian Justice Alexandre de Moraes was sanctioned under the Global Magnitsky Act in July for overseeing the the trial of the former President Jair Bolsonaro for his role in the failed coup attempt after losing the 2022 election. Luckily, in this instance, the sanctions were lifted 5 months later thanks to the current president Lula (Reuters).
Yet, the threat remains for every other country.
The complete disinterest in combatting sexual violence in conflict and violence against children is abhorrent! There’s not even a minimum amount of moral commonness with the Trump Administration. Even against its own citizen, the Trump regime finds excuses when the ICE thugs gun down peaceful protestors or use excessive force otherwise. Immigrants, regardless of legal status, are hunted down like undesired minorities were by the Gestapo in Nazi Germany (1933-1945).
It’s no surprise that the Trump Administration also opposes the empowerment of women and gender equality. In their deeply reactionary view, the 1950s role of the housewife – extremely confined, when women were basically treated as 2nd-class citizens and couldn’t even have their own bank account – is the ideal.
With this in mind it should be clear that the days of mutual respect are over, and that the US joined China and Russia in their struggle to establish sphere of influences. This kind of world order existed before: „To better understand the nature of multilateralism, it is useful to contrast it with bilateralism, a good example of which is the commercial policies of Nazi Germany, in which the German government negotiated bilateral agreements with other countries specifying which goods and services were to be traded, their prices, and the quantities to be exchanged. Through that, a significant number of nations were connected by trade agreements, with Germany acting as a central hub.“ (Encyclopedia Britannica)
Unilateralism (one-sided action with no regard for other parties) is pushed too, from the illegal kidnapping of Maduro (Venezuela) to the attempts of Russia to force concessions out of Ukraine (giving up territory that isn’t even fully controlled by Russia in a war which, at its current pace, would take over 100 years for Russia to win). It is the colonial way of thinking we know from before the establishment of the new world order after 1945 (at least it largely died out, not completely), whether it were the colonies of the British, the French, the Germans or the Belgians – often only differing from the degree of brutality.
International law, which requires all parties to recognize their boundaries and guides as a peaceful method to solve conflicts, stands in the way of the likes of Trump and Putin.
The Trump-Administration doesn’t want to be bound to legal or formal obligations, hence they also try to ignore court orders domestically and seek to bypass institutions like the congress.
The Western Hemisphere – The Object of Trump’s Desire
Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to annex Canada as the 51st state and Greenland, given the recent escalation in January when he kidnapped Maduro without any repercussions – even Russia remained silent – it most likely just emboldened him.
While a temporary solution has been found, it makes Greenland anything but safe from imperialist ambitions and I hope Denmark realizes this too.
The Heritage Foundation already made it their objective to dissolve the European Union, because destroying one country isn’t enough when you can destroy 20+ more to enrich their oligarch friends and far-right buddies: „The Polish investigative outlet VSquare revealed that the Heritage Foundation gathered hardline conservative groups on 11 March [2024] to hear how they would overhaul the current structures of the EU.
The “closed-door workshop” featured a debate on a new paper produced by the lobby groups MCC and Ordo Iuris entitled: “The Great Reset: Restoring Member State Sovereignty in the 21st Century”.
The paper proposes dismantling the European Commission and the European Court of Justice.“
(DeSmog)
The European Union, with its enormous domestic market, has quite the leverage internationally. The EU can set standards, keep big Tech companies like Google, Apple and Microsoft within bounds (see General Data Protection Regulation), protect labour standards when negotiating trade deals and influence many other areas for the better of the citizens of the countries who have a membership. This is a thorn in the flesh of the AI companies who, in their religious pursuit of an extremely unlikely „Artificial General Intelligence“, would like to see all regulations gone and waste as much resources and human lives as possible. Except for creating a tool that allows for manipulation and the undermining of democracies (e.g. Sora), they have delivered nothing. They keep making losses.
Naturally, a dissolved European Union makes it impossible for individual countries to influence trade agreements in any significant way. The US and China would have a heyday in Europe – purchasing companies that struggle due to the dissolution, encircle the citizens of the country with their totalitarian surveillance technology and so on. No wonder the US government favours the far-right, anti-constitutional AfD (in early 2024, it was revealed that there was a secret meeting in Potsdam where they discussed the illegal deportation of millions of immigrants – regardless whether they have German citizenship or not).
Latin America wouldn’t be safe either, as it was also the first to experience the new-old imperialism. After Maduro was kidnapped with his wife and imprisoned in the US, the US government threatened Cuba and Mexico. In the past, also before the Cold War, the kind of intervention has taken different shapes (now likely to be repeated in the 21st century):
- Economic sanctions, such as the trade embargo imposed on Cuba after the 1959 revolution.
- Political and military support for preferred leaders and governments, including Augusto Pinochet’s regime following the 1973 coup in Chile and U.S.-backed governments in Central America during the Cold War.
- Involvement in the removal of democratically elected presidents, most notably Jacobo Árbenz in Guatemala in 1954 and Salvador Allende in Chile in 1973.
- Direct military intervention, including the U.S. occupation of Haiti from 1915 to 1934, as well as covert operations conducted by the CIA in countries such as Nicaragua and Cuba.
(source: Encyclopedia Britannica)
Greenland may enjoy temporary safety from Trump’s imperialism, but Canada does not.
„This week, Canadian leader Mark Carney once again urged Trump to “respect Canadian sovereignty” after the Financial Times reported that State Department officials had met three times since last April with leaders of a group that wants to see the province of Alberta secede from Canada.
The group, named the Alberta Prosperity Project, has been pushing for a referendum on Alberta independence and, according to an X post by one of its leaders, plans to ask US Treasury officials for a $500 billion line of credit to “support the transition to a free and independent Alberta.”“ (CNN)
Alberta is an oil-rich province in western Canada, and Trump made it as clear as day in regards to Venezuela that he’s after the oil. While it is unlikely that Trump would send troops directly to Alberta, if he decided to support the fringe group, he might go down the path Vladimir Putin paved in 2014: support regional separatist groups, destabilize with disinformation and then send some soldiers wearing an unrecognziable uniform to declare an independent republic. Only 19% of Albertans support a secession, according to a survey by Pollara Strategic Insights. Though low support didn’t stop Russia either in 2014.
So, to end it with an excerpt from Mark Carney’s speech at Davos:
„Collective investments in resilience are cheaper than everyone building their own fortresses. Shared standards reduce fragmentations. Complementarities are positive sum. And the question for middle powers like Canada is not whether to adapt to the new reality – we must. The question is whether we adapt by simply building higher walls, or whether we can do something more ambitious. […] Argue, the middle powers must act together, because if we’re not at the table, we’re on the menu.“ (World Economic Forum)
Attitude in the US
The public has no appetite for the imperialistic goals of the Trump-Administration, and I hope they make it clear in the mid-term elections this year and in 2028.
„But the rest of the Reuters poll gets at just how little appetite Americans appear to have for an extended operation in Venezuela:
- Nearly three-quarters (72%) expressed concern about becoming too involved in the country, and that included a majority of Republicans (54%).
- Americans opposed governing Venezuela even just temporarily by double-digits (44%-34%).
- They also opposed Trump’s apparent plan to control Venezuela’s oil by 17 points (46%-29%).
And perhaps most strikingly, the poll asked whether the “United States should have a policy of dominating affairs in the Western Hemisphere” — precisely the intention Trump has previewed.
Only 26% of Americans supported that. And only 43% of Republicans did.“ (CNN)
It was the same when asked about Greenland, with even greater margins who disagreed with the expansionist fantasies. The annexation of Canada is also deeply popular, as well as taking complete control of Gaza (opposed by 74% of Americans).
We shouldn’t expect the best-case scenario, though. That’s an awful way to govern and only ends in disasters at some point. Europe needs to grow up and make sure that it can defend itself against any future Russian aggression; we should heavily focus on the production of drones – for offensive and defensive purposes, and to supply Ukraine as well in her fight against Russian fascism and imperialism; if Europe drifts further right, we drift further into a catastrophe – from the climate crisis to the treatment of refugees and our own citizens threatened by the far-right due to their extremely reactionary views (the AfD, for instance, is in favour of a German ICE, and as the US has shown: the thugs the AfD wants would also shoot innocent citizens who use their constitutionally given rights).
Prepare for the worst, but remain humane.
